From 13th to 20th of August, the city of Malaga showcases its gastronomy, culture and traditions throughout every corner of the city. The holiday provides, a full programme of festivities and events which attracts thousands of international visitors every year.
Malaga, 9th August 2022 – Feria de Málaga is one of the most important celebrations in the Andalusian calendar. The whole city partakes in and enjoys the party atmosphere, day and night. It is an incredible opportunity to enjoy the colourful traditions of Malaga and to sample its unique gastronomy.
After two years of restrictions, Malaga will celebrate the week-long holiday, with a wide range of activities to be enjoyed throughout the city. During the seven days of festivities, the streets will be decked out with lights and dressed in the colours of traditional costumes.
Feria de Málaga can be experienced throughout the entire city. In particular, the fairgrounds, such as the Real de Cortijo de Torres, host key attractions. During the daytime here, you can enjoy Malagan traditions, such as the carriages with horses that ride around the grounds. You can also enjoy the "casetas" (stalls) decorated with lanterns or performances of typical Spanish flamenco. Additionally, there is a family area which provides attractions suitable for all ages.
At night, the Cortijo de Torres is imbued with a more youthful atmosphere, through the illumination of the whole area and performances from important artists.
Feria de Málaga in the historic centre
In the historic centre of Malaga, a multitude of musical performances will take place throughout the different squares and streets. In addition, on Calle Larios - the most emblematic street in the city centre - there will be a stage which hosts the best of Malaga's popular folklore. Dance competitions, short film competitions and children's parties are just some of the activities on offer at the festivity in the city centre.
During the evenings, the Plaza de la Malagueta, becomes the place of reference for lovers of the world of bullfighting.
A Fair for food lovers
Feria de Málaga is a good opportunity to enjoy the city's gastronomy, either in the countless restaurants in the city centre or in the food stalls at the fairgrounds, which frequently offer free tastings of traditional Malagan gastronomy
As well as Spanish omelette, tasty ham and fine cheese, one of the most typical dishes is the delicious "pescaíto frito", which is made by frying fish - usually small and boneless - in plenty of olive oil, dipped in flour and then seasoned with salt. To accompany any meal, there is plenty of Cartojal, the typical sweet wine from Malaga, alongside Rebujitos, the traditional mixture of manzanilla-type wine and soda.
