Operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the new route is subject to government approval and will make Geneva LATAM Brasil's 11th European destination and 33rd international destination. It will also mark the first direct air connection between Geneva and Latin America, strengthening the region's international connectivity and creating new opportunities for passenger and cargo transport, particularly pharmaceuticals and other high-value goods.
"The addition of Geneva to our European network represents an important step in our growth strategy and our commitment to bringing Europe and South America closer together. This new direct connection to São Paulo will allow Swiss and European travellers to access not only Brazil, but also a wide range of destinations across South America through our Guarulhos hub. At the same time, it will strengthen economic, tourism and commercial ties between the two regions," said Thibaud Morand, General Manager LATAM Airlines for Europe, Asia and South Pacific.
For Jean-François de Saussure, CEO of Genève Aéroport:
"The launch of this new direct route between São Paulo and Geneva is fantastic news for the entire region. We know that such a direct connection has long been awaited by diplomatic, business, and tourism stakeholders, as well as by the large Brazilian community living within our catchment area. The United Nations, its agencies, and many multinational corporations based in our region maintain strong ties with Brazil and South America and travel there extensively. This direct service will significantly facilitate their activities.
At the same time, an increasing number of Brazilian visitors choose our region as a destination, both in summer and winter. This route will further strengthen Geneva Airport’s role as the Gateway to the Alps for Brazilian travelers. By launching the first direct service between Geneva and Latin America, LATAM is making history and significantly enhancing the international connectivity of our region."
Flights from Geneva will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:05 p.m., arriving at São Paulo/Guarulhos at 6:55 p.m. on the same day. In the opposite direction, flights will depart São Paulo on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 6:05 p.m., arriving in Geneva at 9:55 a.m. the following day. All times are local and subject to change.
Through São Paulo/Guarulhos Airport, one of LATAM's main hubs, passengers travelling from Geneva will have access to the airline's extensive domestic network across Brazil, as well as connections to multiple destinations throughout South America, including Chile, Peru and Colombia. In Europe, LATAM's partnerships with 18 other airlines expand connectivity options from Geneva to destinations such as Istanbul (Turkey), Vienna (Austria), Warsaw (Poland) and Zurich (Switzerland).
NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR CARGO TRANSPORT
In addition to passenger services, the new connection will offer weekly cargo capacity of 36 tonnes from Geneva to São Paulo and 55 tonnes in the opposite direction. The direct route could reduce transit times by at least eight hours for certain shipments bound for Switzerland, eliminating the need for road transport from other European airports.
The new service will also create opportunities for transporting high-value goods between Switzerland and South America. From Geneva, the route will be able to accommodate demand for pharmaceutical products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, temperature-sensitive medicines and other high-value goods. In the opposite direction, it will facilitate the transport of general cargo, components, industrial parts and high-value products originating from South America.
Between January and July 2026, pharmaceutical cargo transported from Europe to Brazil by LATAM's cargo affiliates increased by 150% compared with the same period in the previous year, highlighting the importance of this segment to the airline's operations.
CONTINUED INVESTMENT IN PRODUCT AND CONNECTIVITY
The new Geneva–São Paulo route will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, a model included in LATAM's investment programme aimed at enhancing connectivity and the passenger experience on long-haul flights.
The airline has begun gradually introducing Wi-Fi connectivity on these aircraft and is progressing with its cabin refurbishment programme, including the introduction of new Premium Business suites with doors and Premium Comfort, its intermediate cabin class. These improvements will be progressively rolled out across the fleet.
The addition of Geneva marks another milestone in LATAM's international network expansion and further strengthens its presence in the European market. During 2026, the airline launched new direct services from Brazil to Amsterdam, Brussels, Cape Town, Ushuaia (seasonal) and Punta Cana. Direct flights between São Paulo/Guarulhos and Cusco, Peru, are also scheduled to begin in March 2027.
In Brazil, the introduction of Embraer E195-E2 aircraft will also support the strategic expansion of LATAM's domestic network. With the addition of Cabo Frio, Ji-Paraná, Macaé and Rondonópolis, the airline will serve 67 destinations across Brazil. Since 2019, LATAM has expanded its presence from 44 to 63 airports in the country, strengthening connectivity options for international passengers travelling to Brazil.
